Shelmarine® Okoume plywood is the only Okoume plywood
that is Lloyd's register-certified for the application of pleasure craft and small craft construction.
Because Shelmarine® Okoume is treated with a preservative, it is given timber classification rating by Lloyd's register
as equivalent to a minimum of moderately durable.

Glue: WBP Glue as specified by the BS1088 (waterproof glue).

Face: Natural whole piece face veneer, free from defects and sanded.

Back: Natural whole piece face veneer, free from any open defect and excessive repairs (sanded).

Core Construction: Multiple core construction with 100% Meranti inner ply's and no excessive core voids (larger than 1mm).
GUARANTEE: Maine Coast Lumber guarantees all of the marine plywood specified as BS1088 will not delaminate (within a reasonable time from purchase). Any sheets that do not conform to the specifications
of the British Standard 1088 will be credited in full. This applies only to the cost of the plywood itself.
Please remember that Meranti is rated as a more durable species than Okoume plywood, however due to the high standards of Okoume manufacturers, Okoume plywood should be considered the "first" choice for BS1088
plywood. |
Rigid Plus Panels |
Our rigid polyurethane product is a composite panel which is constructed of three layers. The two exterior layers, face and back, consist of Okoume B-grade 1088 plywood and a core of rigid polysocyanurate
foam. Each piece comes in a 4' x 8' sheet in thicknesses of 13mm, 19mm and 25mm.
Glue: The type of bonding between plywood and urethane is an exterior-grade WBP according to BS 6566 Part 8-1985.
Another advantage of this product is that the core will not rot, as similar products on the market are known to do. Ultraviolet radiation is the only known environmental factor capable of breaking down the foam. |
